Why I Switched to Flodesk from Mailchimp

Looking for the best email service platform for artists and creatives? I GOT YOU. Or rather Flodesk does! Finally, there is a solution out there that measures up to the prettiness we want and the easiness we crave. Life is hard, you guys. We deserve emails that aren’t. And bonus: I have a 50% off coupon for you guys too! Click here or use code CAMIMONET at checkout.

Anyway, you guys know I am NOTORIOUS for slacking in my email marketing, and 90% of the problem was that it felt like a chore. Like worse than washing the dishes, ugh. Thanks to this new little gem called Flodesk, I am back in the business, baby! (And hopefully in your inbox!) My fab friend Elisabeth mentioned it to me, and one log in later, I was hooked. I literally packed up call my subscribers, cleaned house , and cancelled my Mailchimp subscription the next day. Here’s why I made the move from Mailchimp (better known as the “clunky monkey.” Y’all know I’m talking about) to Flodesk without an OUNCE of hesitation. (Even that cute monkey high-five couldn’t hold me back.)

Flodesk’s easy-to-use interface made me cry tears of joy.

Not to mention, if you are a visual brand like me where you NEED to be able to include photos in your emails even if they are apparently the devil (looking at you Converkit), Flodesk integrates them seamlessly, without having to do weird resizing or compressing. It just WORKS. I had been playing around with Convertkit just MINUTES (okay, weeks, but who even knows what day it is anymore #smallbizlife) before falling in love with Flodesk, and I still wasn’t quite sold on the fact that I would have to manually code in any imagery. I mean, what is this,1998? Flodesk has modern features that give you full creative freedom to send BEAUTIFUL emails. I love, love, LOVE the fact that I am able to include my Instagram feed in the bottom of the emails that automatically populates and changes. Talk about giving the people what they want.

The templates make you look fancy AF.

“Everyone come see how good I look!!” -— your emails after you switch to Flodesk

The templates themselves are stunning and made me WANT to send emails, just to show them off. Kinda like when you get a new outfit, so you make you husband take you to a *fancy* restaurant so you can dress to the nines and order an adult beverage to sip on with your pinky up — they’re THAT good. I am a smidddge concerned that other emails will look similar to mine because the templates are too easy and too good NOT to use, but the huge array of font and design options dampens that fear. You don’t need to hop over to Canva or Illustrator — you’ve got a smorgasbord of drool-worthy fonts right at your fingertips, and it couldn’t be easier to change up your text. I also am a big fan of being able to add in my brand color palette so that the hex codes are right there when I need them! Add in a kerning and letter spacing function, and your girl is SOLD. Kudos to the ladies who thought of all this. They know their stuff.

There’s also pop-up forms, landing pages, workflows...I mean, you can get after it, and I plan to! I already added a pop-up to my website and saw 8 new email subscribers just in the first few hours. That’s powerful stuff!

You can segment your audience in Flodesk.

Okay so in the beginning of my business, this was not something that was important to me, but as I’ve ventured into different facets of my biz, I’m realizing just how much I actually need this feature. Most of my email list is folks interested in products, so there are crickets (like BIG FAT ONES) when I send emails about my creative education, stationery or the podcast. I know there are a few on my list who actually want to hear about those things, so with the power of segments, I  can target those people accurately. Convertkit does this too, but something about Convertkit just doesn’t work with my brain. It’s almost too much. In fact, it's scary. Flodesk hits the mark just right, making it the goldilocks of email marketing. Or something like that. Y’all know what I mean.

No pricing tiers — just one, all-inclusive price!

Sick of being punished for growing your list? Yeah me too. I don’t know of any other email platform that offers a “one-and-done” price so this is definitely revolutionary. With Flodesk, you can send unlimited emails to an unlimited number of subscribers.

Even better?? It’s already a STEAL OF A DEAL at only $38 per month, but if you use my coupon code CAMIMONET, you can save 50% and get in for just $19 a month! Click here to sign up for Flodesk so you can get in on this goodness.

Thanks for the awesome guide! Curious are you having to manually update your subscribers in flodesk? I am not seeing where the tool syncs with shopify!

Thank you for the info. Is there a free option for flodesk? I’m currently using free on Mailchimp and having uploading issues. Would love to have better options.
